Lucknow, April 23 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Thursday said successive governments in Uttar Pradesh have neglected development of the state for last two decades. Dikshit was in the capital to campaign for Congress nominee from Lucknow Rita Bahuguna Joshi.

'All the parties, be it Bharatiya Janata Party, Samajwadi Party or the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party have done nothing for the development of the state in the past 20 years,' she said at the party headquarters here.

Dikshit also attacked Railways Minister Lalu Prasad and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav for their new found closeness with former chief minister Kalyan Singh.

'They (Lalu Prasad and Mulayam Singh) are the same persons who used to abuse Kalyan Singh after the Babri Masjid demolition. Their dream of making a Third Front will never be a reality,' Dikshit said.

Replying to question regarding Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh's alleged threat to Chief Minister Mayawati comment, Dikshit said: 'I will only say that CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) is an institutional body and works without any political interference.'

At a campaign rally Monday in Mallwan locality in Hardoi, about 110 km from here, Digvijay Singh reportedly said the central government would 'use' the CBI against Mayawati if she continued to harass Congress workers.
