Uttar Pradesh will be given ‘special attention’ if Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) comes to power at the Centre, pledged UP Chief Minister and BSP Chief Mayawati at an election rally in Azamgarh on Saturday.

Luring voters in an election campaign, Mayawati reportedly said, her party would give special attention to Uttar Pradesh for its all-round development including health, education, agriculture and other facilities once if BSP forms the government in the Centre.

BSP would took all sections of the society on the board and provide reservation to upper caste poor, she added.

Slamming UPA government over several issues, the BSP supremo said, ‘Congress and Congress-led central governments have always ignored this biggest state of the country; that’s why this state has been lagging behind in the race of development even after 61 years of independence.’

“I have written several letters to the central government, but it has not responded to any letter. Despite my several reminders to release a special package of Rs 80,000 crore for the development of the state, the UPA government till date has done nothing,” she said.

‘The state government has been carrying out the development programmes through its own resources,’ she added.

Lashing out at the Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party’s general secretary Rahul Gandhi without naming them, Mayawati said, “The drama of sleeping in a Dalit’s home or sharing food with them will not help Dalits to raise their living standards.”

Appraising her own regime, Mayawati said that to root out ‘gundaraj’ from the state, BSP launched a special campaign to arrest the criminals and also has taken strict actions against them. ‘The law and order would remain one of the top priorities of state government and none would be allowed to break the law, whether s/he belongs to Gandhi Family,’ she added.

She was referring to Varun Gandhi who is at present behind the bar after delivering hate speech for minorities.
