National,Politics, Mon, 06 Apr 2009 IANS

Gangtok, April 5 (IANS) Acharya Tshering Lama, the lone Congress legislator in Sikkim who is contesting the Lok Sabha elections, has lost Rs.5.6 lakh as burglers hit his room in the MLAs' hostel here, the police said Sunday.

Lama, Congress candidate for the Sangha seat, has filed a complaint at the Sadar Thana.

The theft took place Saturday evening when he was not in the hostel, the police said.

He had left his room around 11 a.m. and when he returned in the evening he discovered that his door had signs of forced entry.

Talking to IANS, Lama alleged that security in the hostel had become lax and he had suffered theft at the hostel earlier too.
