Magnets could keep sharks at bay!

Melbourne, July 24 (ANI): A team of researchers at north Queensland has shown that magnets could be an effective tool to ward off sharks. The bad news however, it may not help stop attacks on humans.

 

Researchers from the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries and James Cook University have discovered that magnets could repel sharks.

 

The new discovery paves the way for a hope the magnets will keep sharks out of fishing nets set for barramundi, reports the Australian.

 

Trials have been carried out in controlled conditions in Cairns.

 

Soon, the research team will conduct field trials to determine the practical use of magnets in the gillnet fishery. (ANI)
