Six feared killed in Islamabad blast

Islamabad, April 4 (IANS) At least six people were feared killed in a powerful bomb explosion in an upscale Islamabad neighbourhood Saturday evening, police and eyewitnesses said.

 

Television channels quoted a senior police officer as saying that six people were feared dead and many more were injured.

 

 

Rescue workers and ambulances were rushed to the spot near a check post of the Frontier Corps (FC) in Jinnah Super Market.

 

 

The blast was followed by firing and one report said the attackers had taken shelter in one of the houses of the F7 neighbourhood, one of Islamabad's upscale areas.

 

 

The attack set off panic among residents of the area.
