Rashtrapati Bhavan's Mughal Garden famous for its evergreen texture and numerous varieties of flowers is being opened for public viewing from today (February 7) to March 10. This year’s theme is ‘roses’ with 125 varieties of the flowers on display.
Spread over an area of 15 acres, the Mughal Garden has three different parts: the first one is the “Rectangular Garden” with a number of terraced gardens decorated with several winter seasonal bulbous and flowering beds, especially roses and other seasonal flowers.
Then there is the Long Garden with popular roses of different colours that entices visitors. This year, there are two new varieties: Frantasia (blue in colour) and Amalia, in addition to the deep red Christian Dior and those varied coloured Iceberg, Pasadena, Montezuma, Summer Snow and many more.
The Mughal Garden includes the Musical Garden, the Spiritual Garden, the Herbal Garden, the Biodiversity Park and the Nakshatra Garden. The Central Lawn in the garden is the venue of numerous receptions and ''At Homes'' hosted by the President.
The garden opens to the public only for a month every year. The visiting hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. except on Mondays being maintenance days. The garden will come to close on March 11 — the day of the Holi Festival.
The entry into the garden closes at 4 p.m. through Gate No.35, which is located near North Avenue.
