Tokyo stocks open lower on persistent economic woes

Tokyo, Jan 20 (Xinhua) Tokyo stocks opened lower Tuesday as investor sentiment remain jittery about global economic outlook.

 

In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 92.59 points, or 1.12 percent, from Monday to 8,164. 26.

 

 

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 5.42 points, or 0.66 percent, to 812. 31. The Second Section also lost ground.
