Blast kills 13 in China

Zhengzhou (China), Dec 27 (Xinhua) At least 13 people were killed and five injured Saturday when a number of detonators exploded in a village of central China's Henan province, officials said.

 

The explosion occurred at about 1.12 a.m. in Donggancheng village of Puyang city, northeast of Henan, the provincial work safety supervision administration said.

 

 

Initial investigation revealed that detonators illegally stored in a residential yard had went off, pulling down more than ten houses.

 

 

It was not clear how many detonators exploded and why these were stored at the yard.

 

 

The police said they were investigating the incident.
