Counting of votes for 200 Rajasthan assembly begins

Jaipur, Dec 8 (IANS) Counting of votes for 200 assembly seats began Monday in Rajasthan, where the Congress is pitted against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

 

The vote count will decide the fate of 2,193 candidates.

 

 

'The first result is expected by 11 a.m. while a majority of results should be declared by late in the afternoon,' an Election Commission official told IANS.

 

 

Nealry 67 percent of 36 million voters exercised their franchise Dec 4 to elect a new government. The BJP won 120 seats in 2003.
