Mumbai pays homage to 7/11 blast victims on 1st anniversary

July 11: Exactly a year ago on the same day, India’s economic capital wasstunned by a series of seven blasts within just 10 minutes in Mumbai’s life-line, the local suburban trains that killed 187 people and injured more than 890 according to government figures.

 

Two survivors are still in coma in local Hinduja and Jaslok hospitals separately.


Today is the first anniversary of 7/11 which has been registered as a black 7/11 in the Mumbai history. To observe the first anniversary, the entire Mumbai is paying homage to the blast victim through organising various programmes across the city. Several actors, directors and other people from Bollywood industries along with some famous celebrities collected at a seminar in Lokandwala for paying homage.


Western Railway has decided to re-run the local train with attached redecorated coach that had got damaged in the blast last year. The train will begin to run from the Churchgate station today at the same time when the blast occurred last year.

Former Deputy Prime Minister and senior BJP leader L K Advani is also arriving in Mumbai to pay homage to the blast victims today.


If we look back to remember the serial blast, we still feel pain because of the horrible scene creates in our mind.


It was a routine evening of Mumbai on July 11, 2006. The people were returning their homes. There were heavy rushes on the road and railway station. A huge crowd was waiting the local train. The came at the Churchgate station and began to run towards its destination after a few minutes regular stoppage. It was 06:24 p.m. The first blast occurred between the Khar and Santacruz railway station in the first class men's compartment. After that within just ten minutes six more blast held in the separate location points on the different trains of the western railway line.


All the bombs were placed in the first class men's compartment for targeting to middle- upper middle class professionals. This blast killed 187 people dead and more than 890 people were injured. The whole Mumbai were shocked. There were lots of grief and fear scattered in the railway stations and hospitals.


The Maharashtra government has ordered for a high level enquiry, which accused Faisal Sheikh and Tanveer Ansari along with twenty eight others terrorist in which Faisal Sheikh and Tanveer Ansari along with thirteen are under custody, other fifteen including Azam Cheema were still to be captured. It is said that ten among the fifteen were Pak citizens according to investigators. It is assumed that Azam Cheema was the leader of the team, who was a commander in Pakistan Army. The first hearing of this case is going on under the MACOCA court of Maharasta from July 28, 2007.
