Ronak Manuja upsets eighth seed Uzbek

Kolkata, Nov 24 (IANS) Qualifier Ronak Manuja of India played aggressively to upset eighth-seeded Vaja Uyakov of Uzbekistan 7-5, 6-3 in an opening match of the ITF Men's Futures tennis tournament here Monday.

 

National grasscourt champion Vishnu Vardhan also cruised to the second round with an emphatic 6-0, 6-2 victory over wildcard Aditya Madekakar, who was rattled by the Vardhan's lethal serves on the Jaidip Mukerjea Tennis Academy courts.

 

 

In doubles opening round, fourth-seeded Indian pair of Rupesh Roy and Sunil-Kumar Sipaeya rallied from behind to beat the German pair of Mario Eckhart and Pirmmui Haenle 6-7, 6-1, 7-6 (10-6).

 

 

In another match, Indian combination of Sourav Panja and Vijay Kumar got past countrymen Rohan Gide and Vikram Reddy 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (11-9).
