Soldier killed by suspected militants in Kashmir

Jammu, Nov 17 (IANS) A soldier was killed by suspected militants Monday and two army personnel have gone missing in a mountainous forest area of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, officials said.

The army had launched an operation about five days back to nab a group of militants reported to be hiding in Beri forests in Mendhar area, nearly 250 km from here. On Monday morning, Naik Uma of the Assam Rifles, was killed and two soldiers have gone missing, army sources said.

Searches are underway in the area to catch the militants, officials said.
