15,000 paramilitary troopers reach Kashmir for poll duty

Jammu, Nov 3 (IANS) About 15,000 additional paramilitary troopers have arrived in Jammu and Kashmir for security duty during upcoming assembly elections in the state, the tate police chief said here Monday.

 

Director General of Police Kuldip Khoda said the security forces were committed to maintain peace and order during the seven-phased voting, starting Nov 17.

 

 

Khoda said more forces would be arriving in the state by mid-November.

 

 

Jammu and Kashmir will vote to elect its new 87-member assembly.
