Obama camp in SMS blitz to woo 'text generation' to polling booths
New York, Oct 29 (ANI): Realising that the mobile phones text messages are the most apt medium to reach out to the GenNext, the Barack Obama camp is learnt to have devised a novel idea of sending across SMSs giving detailed programmes of the Democratic presidential nominees and their polling booths.
In the states going to early-voting, the messages have already gone out, reported the New York Daily News.

In August too, Obama had used the same medium to inform his supporters that Joe Biden was his running mate.
According to the paper, with text messaging the go-to communication platform for the under-30 crowd, the Democrat's campaign will soon ramp up its outreach to this "text generation".
Besides text-messaging, Obama also has made broad use of Web-based networking platforms such as 'Facebook.com' and 'MySpace.com' where he has four times more registered supporters than Republican nominee John McCain, data show.
"We are making it up as we go, but our overall principle has always been the same - to lower the barriers to participation through technology, and to raise expectations about what we need from our supporters," the paper quoted Joe Rospars, Obama's director of new media, as saying. (ANI)
