Sniffer dogs fail to detect 20 kg fake bomb in Olympic Park security test

London, Fri, 13 Jan 2012 ANI

London, Jan 13(ANI): Sniffer dogs failed to detect 20 kilogrammes of explosives in a security test at the Olympic site.

They failed to detect the potential bomb in a lorry containing 44 pound-mass of ammonium nitrate, an explosive used by al-Qaeda terrorists.

"The amount was enough to cause serious loss of life. It's shocking that it was missed," The Mirror quoted a source, as saying.

Scotland Yard confirmed undercover exercises had been conducted at Stratford, East London to review the security situation.

"We test rigorously and regularly, to ensure that we will deliver a safe and secure Games," an Olympic spokesperson added. (ANI)
