Bokaro, Jan 12 (ANI): A train tragedy was averted in Jharkhand as railway personnel located a bomb planted by suspected Maoists from a railway track in Bokaro.

The 20-kilogram bomb was detected by railway employees when the track was being routinely cleaned on Wednesday. The motive evidently was to blow up the track.

Ramnaresh Kunwar, police Inspector, said that the Maoists wanted to repeat their attempt to damage the track.

"The militants had long back caused an explosion in the area, and we think this bomb was also planted back then and it did not explode. We found this bomb when the cleaning of the railway track was being undertaken," said Kunwar.

The route was closed for trains for some hours till the time the bomb was defused.

The police are looking into the matter (ANI)
