Four killed in Jharkhand train accident

Sahibganj, Jan 11 (ANI): At least four people were killed and 14 others injured when the Brahmaputra Mail hit a stationary goods train at Karanpurato station of Jharkhand's Sahibganj District this morning.

 

According to reports, Brahmaputra Mail, travelling from Dibrugrah to Delhi, collided with a stationary goods train at Karanpura at around 5:50 am. As a result of the collision, one coach of the Brahmaputra Mail derailed.

 

A relief train reached the accident site to rescue stranded passengers.

 

Meanwhile, Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi announced a compensation of Rs five lakh each for those killed and Rs 50,000 for those seriously injured.

 

Passengers, who have received simple injuries, will get a compensation of Rs 10,000. (ANI)
