Hyderabad , Tue, 10 Jan 2012 ANI

Hyderabad, Jan 10 (ANI): Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday criticised the ruling Congress Government led by N Kiran Kumar Reddy in Andhra Pradesh over the recent hike in power tariff.

"Today this government is very bad because of corruption, inefficiency, incompetence, they have ruined the system. Now, arrears are nearly 16,000 crores, now they want to increase tariff nearly 5,000 crores and also fuel surcharge, they want around nearly 5,000 crores and also 6,000 crores there are arrears," said Naidu.

"That means they have collapsed totally, they are unable to supply even transformers, they are unable to give power for the agriculture, even towns, even villages, everywhere there are power cuts. Totally, the state has become dark; this is because of the Congress Party," he added.

Chandrababu Naidu and other top TDP leaders were taken into preventive custody here today, as they were proceeding in a rally to the electricity office here to protest hike in power charges and erratic supply.

The rally was part of the statewide agitation against the hike in power tariff, which has burdened the common man. (ANI)
