Tehran, Dec 30(ANI): Pakistan has reportedly decided to go ahead with negotiations on an energy deal with Iran to reduce gas shortage in the country despite the US' objections over the deal. akistan is bearing losses due to energy crises and it would go ahead with different options including Iran," The Nation quoted a Pakistani official as saying.
The construction work on the pipeline till Iran's border has been completed, and the survey for the remaining feasibility on Pakistan's land has also been concluded.
The source added Islamabad has not backed off from its trade agreement with Iran.
Islamabad diplomats had earlier said the US was frustrated with the "rapid progress" of Pakistan- Iran project, and was bent on hindering the deal, The Express Tribune reports.
But Zardari had dismissed the threats, stressing that the launching of the project is vital to revive the Pakistan's "fast crumbling" economy.
The 7.6 billion dollar gas pipeline deal, which was signed in June 2010, aims to export 21.5 million cubic meters of Iran's natural gas to Pakistan daily.
Both sides had finalised the details of the deal during the 2007 talks in Tehran. (ANI)
