Sydney, December 24(ANI): Australia has opted for experience over youth for the Boxing Day Test match against India and included Ben Hilfenhaus rather than 21 year old Mitchell Starc.
Hilfenhaus hasn't played for Australia since his last game, during the Ashes last summer.
After the axing of Usman Khwaja and Phillip Hughes, this is third change in the Australian squad.
Shaun Marsh and Ed Cowan have replaced Khwaja and Hughes respectively for the Boxing Day Test match against India.
Oz captain Michael Clarke believes that Hilfenhaus's ability to bowl long bowling spells has played a big role in swinging the decision in his favor. The fact that he had earlier received good success against India is also a big factor, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Clarke also believes the squad they have selected for the Boxing Day Test match is the best they could have and he has complete faith in each and every one of them.
Apart from Mitchell Starc, South Australian all rounder Daniel Christian was also disappointed over the selectors once again ignored him.
Michael Clarke believes that both have plenty to offer to Australian cricket in the near future.
India is still to reveal their squad for the Boxing Day Test.
