Marsh optimistic about return by Boxing Day Test

Sydney, Dec 22(ANI): Shaun Marsh is convinced that he will be back in line for a return to Test cricket after tackling a recurring back injury which escalated during the Test series against South Africa.

Marsh is also quite positive about his selection in the Australian cricket team for the Boxing Day test match against India.

He believes that a change in his treatment has yielded good results.

Marsh said, "Last few days have been crucial for me and I have tried my best to get fit and in proper position. They have been good for me."

Marsh also stressed that his back was no longer an issue as it had improved a lot in recent weeks because of an ample amount of net practice.

"I think my back has actually come up good and about a week and a half ago it was bit taut and sore. I did work quite hard to come over it and even had extended net practices", says Marsh

Despite not playing for six weeks, Marsh was selected in the 13 member squad of Chairman's X1 for the series opener in Canberra. But he did miss that match and was expected to be out until Christmas, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.

Marsh admits that his recovery wasn't the fastest of all, as it was a slow process initially but it picked up pace after a months time. "It was a slow start and I faced few issues earlier but then I worked really hard with my people in Perth and that has shown good results."

All rounder Dan Christian would be giving Marsh stiff competition for his place in the Australian cricket team for the Test series against India since Usman Khwaja was dropped from the team. (ANI)
