Fighting winter colds with Tulsi tea

Winter is a season of cold winds and hence we are easily affected by winter cold during this season.  Suffering from cold is really frustrating which leaves you with a feeling of uneasiness. We can get rid of cold by several means and among them, Tulsi teas is one of the best alternatives in herbal treatment. One of the most recommended herbal treatments for winter cold is the consumption of tulsi tea.

Tulsi or holy basil with the botanical name Ocimum sanctum is one of the oldest traditional herbs of India with enormous medicinal properties. It has been used for medicinal purpose for last 5000 years and is also called the ‘queen of herbs’ due to its countless medicinal properties. Basil is most common in almost all the houses of India. The concept of tulsi tea way backs to thousands of year ago and has also been mentioned in the ancient text of Rig veda and is consumed from the time of rishi munis. Tulsi tea is reported to have excellent antioxidant, astringent and adaptogenic properties that help you to fight the winter cold by boosting your immune system. Apart from that the taste of tulsi tea is also very spicy with a pleasant aroma. Thus a cup of tulsi tea in the morning is really delightful and really beneficial to maintain a healthy immune system to prevent cold. There are three types of tulsi that are commonly used for the preparation of tea. They are: Krishna Tulsi, Rama Tulsi and Vana Tulsi.

Preparation of  tulsi tea is also very easy. You can make tulsi tea by adding some leaves of this plant in the boiling water and adding honey to it. Stir the mixture for a while and your tea is ready. You can also mix it with milk and tea leaves as per your choice. To make it more tastier you can also add some ginger to it. It is completely free from any caffeine, preservatives and soda and is purely herbal. Thus, it  has no side effects on your health.

In addition to the treatment of cold, tulsi tea also helps in treating fever that is most prevalent during winter cold. Tulsi tea along with cardamom, milk and honey is quite effective in bringing the fever down during winter cold. Thus, tulsi tea is an important and one of the most effective treatment for winter cold that can be considered and trusted as it is completely herbal and has no side effects.
