Manmohan Singh, Medvedev reviewed gamut of India-Russia bilateral relations: Mathai

Moscow, Dec 16(ANI): Indian Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai today said that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev revived the enhancement of the special and privileged strategic partnership between the two countries during their meeting in Moscow.

Addressing the mediapersons here, Mathai said that both the leaders discussed the regular high-level meetings that had taken place since the annual Summit in December 2010.

"The two leaders reviewed the gamut of our bilateral relations with specific emphasis on some of the strategic sectors. They also reviewed the international situation, some regions of the world in particular," Mathai said.

"They also had a discussion relating to our cooperation on international sphere, such as the G20, matters relating to the international financial crisis and so on," he added.

Mathai further said that President Medvedev did not discuss the internal situation of Russia with Dr. Singh.That was not part of the discussions, to my knowledge," he added.

He also emphasized that Dr. Singh and Medvedev have reiterated to promote close coordination of joint efforts in the international arena and also contribute to the continued implementation of large-scale trade, economic, investment, defence, scientific and technical projects.

Dr. Singh is currently on an official visit to Russia at the invitation of Medvedev.

He has held talks with Medvedev and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. (ANI)
