President witnesses ballet based on noble cause

The president of India Pratibha Patil fished out her valuable and demanding time for watching a ballet programme titled “Smruti Sankalp Yatra” presented by the Yuvak Biradari (Bharat) of Mumbai at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday.

The cultural and musical programme was based on the good cause of depicting social evils of female infanticide and environmental issue of global warming. The Sangeet Natak Academy also contributed in the programme.

The theme of the ballet was named “Ajanmika” highlighting the evil of female infanticide through the collective forms of dancing-folk as well as classical.

The song and dance show with a view to strike on the mind besides growing infanticide problems also incorporated some other themes such as the pressing problems of global warming and a cultural presentation on India’s freedom struggle from 1857 to 1947 in various languages of the country.

About 200 school children and 40 professional theatre artistes performed in the show.

Yuvak Biradari (Bharat)

In order to cherishing the goals of humanity and national building, the Yuvak Biradari (Bharat), a national award-winning organisation was established in 1974.

It has attempted to establish and promote Insaani Biradari (Universal Brotherhood) and still trying to achieve its aim of strengthening the social fabric of India.

The organisation draws its philosophical inspiration form the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, and from the thoughts and visions of Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore.

The organisation concentrates on the social, educational and cultural advancement of society.

The Yuvak Biradari directs its function through the guiding principles of twin concept consisting Rachana (construction) and Prabodhan (awakening).

Addressing Budget Session

The dialogue process with Pakistan would resume depending on the favourable conditions, the President said while attending the joint session of Budget on Monday.

"We are committed to peace, friendship and good neighbourly relations with Pakistan. A stable and prosperous Pakistan, at peace with itself, is in the interest of our entire region," she said in her maiden address to the joint sitting of the Budget Session of Parliament.

"When conditions permit we will resume our dialogue process with Pakistan, aimed at building mutual confidence and resolving outstanding issues, premised on an atmosphere free from terror and violence," said the honourable President.
