Islamabad, Dec 7 (ANI): Former Pakistan Ambassador to the United States Husain Haqqani has sued the US magazine Newsweek for publishing an article written by Pakistani-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz against him and President Asif Ali Zardari over the Memo Gate issue.
Haqqani has initiated a legal battle with the magazine by serving a notice which claimed that the article has caused "irreparable damage" to his and Zardari's reputation, The Dawn reports.
In his article published on December 3, Ijaz had disclosed that Zardari and Haqqani had prior information of the Abbottabad operation in which former al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed on May 02.
The article further quoted Ijaz, as saying that Haqqani assured him about the prior approval of Zardari ahead of delivering the controversial memo to former Chairman of the US chief of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen.
Analysts were raising questions over the step taken by Haqqani by suing the magazine and not the author of the article. (ANI)
