Smith disappointed over ICC decision to delay Test Championship until 2017

Johannesburg, Nov 17(ANI): South African captain Graeme Smith says that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has missed a golden opportunity to give Test cricket a much-needed boost by postponing the Test Championship to 2017.

The ICC had earlier scheduled the inaugural championship for 2013.

"I thought it was a bit disappointing, to be honest. I personally felt it wasn't the right decision for cricket. Obviously, the ICC have their reasons for not doing it, but I feel five years is a very long time," stuff.co.nz quoted Smith, as saying.

"You can skip a generation in five years. As cricketers, we always want the ICC to make decisions in the best interests of the game and I'm not sure that that's happened now," he added. (ANI)
