Oasis copy Cliff Richard's son

London, Oct 4 (IANS) British rock band Oasis has stirred a controversy with its new song 'The Turning', which fans of Cliff Richard claim is a copy of the singer's 1976 hit 'Devil Woman'.

Mirror.co.uk quoted Janine Castle, from the International Cliff Richard Movement, as saying: 'I'm astounded Oasis used Cliff as their muse - but also delighted. I can hear the similarities.

Oasis posted the track on their MySpace site Thursday.

Writing on 67-year-old Cliff's official site, a fan lamented: 'This is a rip-off. What'll they do next? Remix Mistletoe and Wine?'

Oasis lead singer Noel Gallgaher had earlier admitted that he had copied the song 'This Guy's In Love With You' by Burt Bacharach. The band has been hounded in the past for other songs sounding mysteriously like older classic songs.

One of their earlier hits 'Cigarettes and Alcohol' sounded like the classic T-Rex song 'Get It On'. Their later hit 'Lyla' sounded a lot like "Mona' by Craig McLachlan.
