Bhutto loyalist Israr Shah says PTI could take advantage if PPP ignores core party members

Islamabad, Mon, 14 Nov 2011 ANI

Islamabad, Nov 14 (ANI): Former Advisor to Pakistan Prime Minister, Dr Israr Shah, has warned the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leaders that their ignorance towards the core party workers will create a political vacuum, which would be taken advantage of by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.

Dr Israr demanded of the government to constitute a 'truth commission' comprising of judiciary members to probe into the extraordinary increase in the assets of ruling elites, their relatives and friends, the Daily Times reports.

He dispelled the impression given by PPP Secretary General Jahangir Badar and Dr Fozia Wahab at two different talk shows that Dr Israr Shah was profoundly blessed by the party and President Asif Ali Zardari for his services for PPP.

"I fought at ideological and practical fronts for forty years in the party due to which Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari entrusted me responsibilities for my party but I never misuse the authority and took undue favour during my long career", he said.

Shah alleged Jahangir took undue favour and illegal gratification from his party position.

"Badar took diesel, scrap and textile permits, LPG and Hajj quotas violating the rules and regulations, licenses for establishment of sugar mills and banks, contracts at the national exchequer" Shah said, adding: "I publicly challenge Badar to prove any of the above blessings on me, he might be hanged in front of parliament house."

Shah claimed that military regimes had offered him lucrative choices, but he rejected them all because of his loyalty towards the Bhutto family. (ANI)
