Digvijay slams RSS leader Kumar, says he never labelled Hindus as militants

Bhopal, Nov 10 (ANI): Reacting sharply to Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) leader Indresh Kumar criticism , Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh has said he never labelled all Hindus as militants, adding that he only considered people with a fundamentalist bent of mind as extremists.

"I have never said Hindus are militants. Neither have I said Muslims are militants. I always say extremist ideologies are the root cause of it. Be it extremist Muslim ideologies or the Sanghi (ideology of the Hindu radical parties) ideologies. Such people are taught violence and hatred since childhood," he said

"I have said this against the Sangh and not against Hindus as a whole or Muslims. A good Hindu can never be a militant," he added.

Kumar had commented that Singh considered all Hindus, including spiritual leaders as militants.

"He (Digvijay) said Hindu militants, he himself is a Hindu and he is considering himself a militant. The people he considers as gurus are also militants. He has named party colleagues, who are Hindus and their leaders, from Sun god to the national flag, he has called each of them as militants. So, I think that there is no bigger sin than this," Kumar told the media here.

"When he talked about Sangh, that the anti-corruption rally carried out by Baba Ramdev Anna Hazare, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, and LK Advani are all RSS sponsored, then in a way he has admitted that wherever there is Sangh, there is a movement against the eradication of corruption. And wherever there is Digvijay and his associates, the path is fully laden with corruption in the country," added Kumar.

Digvijay Singh's remarks in the last few months on several political leaders have triggered controversies. (ANI)
