PM condoles demise of noted Hindi writer Shrilal Shukla

New Delhi, Oct 28 (ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has condoled the demise of noted Hindi litterateur Shrilal Shukla.

 

Dr. Singh in his condolence message expressed sympathies with the bereaved family and described his death a great loss to the world of literature, All India Radio reports.

 

Jnanpith awardee Shrilal Shukla breathed his last in Lucknow after prolonged illness on Friday morning. He was 86. Shukla worked as a Provincial Civil Services (PCS) officer for the state government of Uttar Pradesh, later inducted into the IAS. He has written over 25 books, including Makaan, Sooni Ghaati Ka Sooraj, Pehla Padaav and Bisrampur Ka Sant. (ANI)
