Fulbari, Oct 27 (ANI): Border Security Force (BSF) personnel celebrated Diwali with their Bangladeshi counterparts and Indian civilians at a security post near the India-Bangladesh border on Wednesday.
The BSF personnel greeted and exchanged sweets with Bangladeshi Border Guards (BBG) officials in a show of amity and friendship.
At dusk, BSF personnel lit candles and earthen lamps while celebrating the festival of lights with their colleagues and Bangladesh counterparts.
They also lit firecrackers on the occasion. Compelled by duty to spend most of the year away from their homes, the personnel tried to make the best of the festive spirit.
"In spite of staying far away from home, we celebrate Diwali every year with our colleagues and civilians at this border post. This is our home, since we spend most of the year at the border post," said Satpal Singh, a BSF personnel. (ANI)
