Jaipur, Oct 6 (ANI): The continuous price-rise and inflation has affected the sale of effigies of ten-headed mythological demon king Ravana in Jaipur.
According to the media reports, the cost of bamboos, wood, paper, jute and crackers have increased which has led to an increase in the cost of the effigies.
"During this period, the price rates of effigies of Ravana have increased. I have been purchasing them for the past seven-eight years for my kids. There is a surge of around 25 percent in the rates. Earlier we used to purchase Ravana at the rate of rupees 300- 350, but this time we are getting at the rate of rupees 500, " said Nirmal Saini, a customer.
"As the price of all the items have increased (in the market), so this time, we have not built huge effigies of Ravana," Jagdish Jogi, an artisan.ussehra also symbolizes the triumph of the warrior Goddess Durga over the buffalo demon Mahishasura.
In the months of Ashwin and Kartik, Hindus observe a 10-day ceremony of fast, rituals, celebrations and feasts to honor the Mother Goddess and the triumph of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana. (ANI)
