London, Sept 18 (ANI): Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has turned down claims that his 38 million pounds striker Sergio Aguero is heading back to Spain at the end of the season.
There are speculations in La Liga that Aguero is anxious to play for Real Madrid and only opted to join City for 12 months providing they wouldn't stand in his way once Jose Mourinho's side make a bid for the Argentinian, express.co.uk reports.
There is an unwritten rule that Atletico will never sell to their fierce city rivals, so Aguero was prepared to place his dream move on hold for one season by accepting Manchester City's club record offer. On the eve of today's visit to Fulham, Mancini was quick to dismiss any conspiracy theories surrounding his on-fire forward.
"It will be difficult for him to join Real Madrid because he has signed a five-year contract. I don't think this will happen," Mancini said.
Aguero is part of a more expansive City side who, having released the hand brake, have been scoring goals for fun. It was important that we qualified straight into the Champions League and since then have brought in more good players. I am happy because we are playing very well," Mancini added.
he Italian, though, still wants a greater say on football decisions although he insists he will not be involved in the search for a replacement for Garry Cook who resigned as City's chief executive.
"I want more control on the football side, that would be fair. But I don't think my opinion on the chief executive is important. That issue is for the chairman," he confirmed. (ANI)
