Now, Bachmann says her 'God behind Hurricane' joke was a 'metaphor'

Washington, Mon, 05 Sep 2011 ANI

Washington, Sept 5 (ANI): Minnesotan Congresswoman Michele Bachmann has said that she was speaking 'metaphorically' when she claimed that recent Hurricane Irene and earthquake in eastern United States was God's way of sending a message to lawmakers in Washington.

The Republican presidential candidate recently called the deadly Hurricane and Virginia earthquake 'divine' efforts to get Washington politicians to cut spending.

But in a recent interview with CBS she brushed off the statement as a joke.

"Of course, I was being humorous when I said that. It would be absurd to think it was anything else," Politico quoted Bachmann, as saying.

"Obviously, I was speaking metaphorically. That was clear to the audience. It was clear to me," she said.

"The American people have been desperately trying to get the president's attention, and he's not paying attention, they're trying to get the president's attention, and that was the metaphor I was making," she added. (ANI)
