All-party meet on Lokpal Bill tomorrow

New Delhi, Aug 23 (ANI): The government has decided to call an all-party meeting on Wednesday to find a way to solve differences over the Lokpal Bill.

Leaders of all political parties have been invited to attend the meeting scheduled for 3.30 p.m tomorrow. The announcement comes as Anna Hazare's indefinite fast entered its eighth day on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, today held a detailed meeting with Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee, looking into the Lokpal Bill, Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

Singhvi had yesterday said that differences between the government and Hazare on the Lokpal Bill were more to do with methodology rather than content and said the Committee on Law and Justice and Personnel was open to all kinds of opinions and inputs to send a strong and acceptable to all Lokpal Bill back to Parliament.

Singhvi said: "I believe that if transparency is there and an attempt is made to arrive at a constructive conclusion. A flawless Bill can be achieved within a short time. If there is any kinky panky of any kind the whole world is watching. The real issue is solving the issue. A solution in favour of the nation,"

"All political parties are welcome to give their suggestions to the Standing Committee. Be it anybody from any party he is welcome so far till the approach is constructive." he added.

Commenting on the protests that have been witnessed outside the houses of several ministers of the ruling UPA Government, Singhvi said: "I don"t want to comment on the protests if it is under law and constitutional and non-violent. I do believe there has to be a line between restrain and line of restrain." (ANI)
