Chelsea eyeing 25 million pound bid for Valencia star Mata

London, Aug 18(ANI): Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is reportedly preparing a 25 million pound offer for Valencia winger Juan Mata.

According to the Daily Express, Villas-Boas has singled out Mata as the man he wants to invigorate his side.

The 23-year-old saw a move to Arsenal fall through two weeks ago when they failed to follow through their initial interest and Liverpool have also been keen on the player.

But Chelsea, who have been watching Mata for some time, are expected to make their opening move in the next few days, despite reports in Spain suggesting the bid had already been tabled.

Villas-Boas reportedly wants at the very least a creative midfielder and a winger before the transfer window closes in 12 days' time, with Tottenham's Luka Modric also a target. (ANI)
