Hindus greet Costa Ricans on 'Virgen de los Angeles' Day

Nevada (US), July 28 (ANI): The Hindus have sent early greetings to Costa Ricans in Costa Rica and world over on 'Virgen de los Angeles' Day, which falls on August 2.

 

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a release in Nevada (USA) on Wednesday, expressed warmest greetings on the upcoming "Virgen de los Angeles" Day, wishing that it brought joy, happiness, blessings and cheer to all.

 

Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, stressed that all religions should work together for a just and peaceful world. Dialogue would bring us mutual enrichment, he added.

 

"Virgen de los Angeles" Day is a Costa Rican national holiday celebrating Costa Rica's patron saint, the Virgen de los Angeles (la Negrita). On this day in Costa Rica, many make religious pilgrimage to the Nuestra Senora de los Angeles Basilica in Cartago; and special masses, processions, street fairs, feasts, and live music events held.

 

Costa Rica in Central America, also termed as "happiest place on the planet" and "greenest" country in the world; has no army, highest life expectancy in the Western hemisphere, and its tropical forests are home to about 850 species of birds and 1,000 species of orchid including toucans and macaws. Laura Chinchilla is the President.

 

Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal. (ANI)
