New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): In the wake of the recent serial blasts in Mumbai, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday charged Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh of trying to provoke the public and upset the entire investigation process.
"The Congress General Secretary, Digvijay Singh is deliberately trying to provoke the public and seeks to change the entire investigation and unity of the nation on such a serious, critical issue," said BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad.
Prasad slammed the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government for having not adopted stringent measures to tackle frequent militant attacks in the country.
"After 26/11 blasts, the investigation that was needed to be done is still remaining. The state of National Counter Terrorism Agencies is pathetic. The motor lodges that had come here were almost drowning; there was no provision of drivers," said Prasad. So, we want to say that security agencies or even intelligence agencies that have been appointed to counter terrorism have not been doing their job in an honest manner," he added.
Prasad further said the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was successful in its counter-militancy policies during its regime, as it provided enough freedom to the security forces to handle militancy attacks in the country.
"We have been out of power for seven years now. During the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) regime, the terrorists and their patrons knew that if we do something, we would be killed. Security forces also had the complete freedom to take action, regardless of any compulsions of vote bank politics," said Prasad.
"We know how many models were destroyed, how Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) was there, how POTA was approved by the Supreme Court, we knew it. Therefore, the security forces were not fighting terrorism with their hands tied," he added.
Continuing his tirade against RSS, Digvijay Singh on Sunday alleged that it was "making bomb factories" and demanded that role of all kinds of terror groups, including Hindu outfits, should be probed in connection with the Mumbai serial blasts.
"I have been saying that RSS was spreading terrorism in the country and it has been making bomb factories," Singh told reporters.
At least 19 persons have died and over 130 others injured in the triple blasts, which took place at Zaveri Bazar, Opera House and Dadar in Mumbai on Wednesday evening. (ANI)
