New Delhi, July 14 (ANI): The new Tribal Affairs Minister V. Kishore Chandra Deo on Thursday stressed for the efficient implementation of tribal welfare measures.

Talking to reporters here after assuming charge of his ministry, Deo said he will strive for the timely and efficient implementation of schemes launched by the ministry alongwith the grant of land rights to the tribal people dwelling in the forest areas and the forest rights.

" I will also ensure that the funds granted under the Integrated Action Plan currently being implemented by the Ministry of Home affairs are utilised as per the plan," said Deo, according to an official release.

Deo underlined the helplessness of tribals in taking care of themselves and said that there was need to protect their fundamental rights.

"What we need is development. Forming a separate tribal district will not make a difference without any development into all categories. My object will be to raise the economic conditions, to see that those areas develop and that the tribals get their rights that are due to them," Deo.

He equally showed his concern on the Panchayati Raj, which is interrelated with tribal affairs, and suggested better monitoring and utilisation of the funds.

He said that he was hopeful that the States would utilise the money properly, so that the people could reap the benefits. (ANI)
