Wellington, July 5 (ANI): Former New Zealand allrounder Lance Cairns has been jointly appointed director of cricket coaching at St Bede's College Cricket Club and Marist Harewood Cricket Club in Christchurch.
The commitments will be shared evenly between the secondary school and cricket club with responsibilities including recruitment, mentoring and overall preparation of teams.
Cairns has been involved in youth cricket for a number of years and recently served briefly on the national selection panel before restructuring at New Zealand Cricket got rid of the three-man panel, replacing it with a national selection manager who has yet to be appointed.
The appointment is for one year and Cairns, who played 43 tests and 78 one-day internationals for New Zealand, will move to Christchurch in August to begin the role, stuff.co.nz reports. (ANI)
