Itanagar, Jun 18 (ANI): The Arunachal Citizens Rights (ACR) has reacted strongly over the alleged report of the involvement of senior Cabinet Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Rural Works Department Atum Welly in the reported criminal conspiracy hatched against Payi Gyadi, the Chairman of the Sango Lamte Foundation and an RTI activist.
A pistol and explosives was planted in Gyadi's car to wrongly frame him as he had exposed the alleged nexus between the minister and government officials indulging in nepotism.
The Arunachal Citizen Rights also lauded the state police for arresting three accused who have confessed to their involvement in the pistol-explosive planting incident in Gyadi's vehicle.
The ACR appealed to the state government and the police to investigate the case without any bias, and urged them not to hush up the case so that the brain behind the act is exposed,
Gyadi had unearthed through RTI the illegal appointments in the Arunachal Government on the basis of favouritism and recommendations by some politicians of the state in connivance with a high-ranking officer of the state through fake certificates.
Later these appointments had to be cancelled when Gyadi exposed the issue of forged certificates.
On March 4, Gyadi lodged an FIR in the Itanagar Police Station against Atum Welly and Chief Information Commissioner YD Thongchi for their involvement in favouring illegal appointments in the government departments.
However, despiet directives from the Guwahati Hgh Court, Itanagar Police had refused to register a criminal case against these powerful people.
On the other hand, Gyadi has been receiving life threatening calls from anonymous callers asking him to withdraw the FIR lodged against the politician and the former Commissioner.
"Gyadi's wife has asked the Arunachal Pradesh DGP for protection to be provided to her activist husband, which is yet to be fulfilled. The family is apprehensive of the perpetrators targeting them, and their livelihood is in threat," the Acr said in its statement.
It is alleged that the so-called Atum Welly was involved in the infamous case of forgery to secure jobs for his daughter and eldest son in the departments of Arts and Culture and Tax and Excise under the Arunachal Government stated as above.
"It is reported that the so-called Minister has developed a vindictive attitude to avenge this RTI activist. Moreover, the promise of the new government headed by Jarbom Gamlin to follow the legacy of late Dorjee Khandu government for a transparent and 'People First' Government has been proved wrong by this nasty nexus between the so called Minister and bureaucracy," the statement said.
Arunachal Citizens Rights chairperson Bamang Tago has vehemently condemned the murder of democracy in this case and demanded a thorough, free and fair investigation into the whole episode. (ANI)
