Convict confesses to shooting Tupac Shakur in 1994

New York , Thu, 16 Jun 2011 ANI

New York, June 16 (ANI): A convict, who is serving life term, has claimed that he shot Tupac Shakur in 1994 during the 'East-West' war that had defined hip-hop culture.

Shakur had miraculously survived this attack, but was killed on September 13, 1996 in Las Vegas, which remain unsolved till date.

Dexter Isaac apologized in a statement posted on AllHipHop.com for the infamous near-fatal attack and said that he shot Tupac at the direction of talent mogul James 'Jimmy Henchman' Rosemond.

"I want to apologize to his family [Tupac Shakur] and for the mistake I did for that sucker [Jimmy Henchman]," the New York Post quoted Issac as saying in the statement.

Isaac, 46, said that he was paid 2,500 dollars for the attempted murder on November 30, 1994, at Quad Studios in Manhattan.

However, Rosemond's lawyer Jeffrey Lichtman has slammed Isaac's statement.

"He's a convicted killer who was brought back by the US Attorney, solely to cooperate against Jimmy Rosemond, and wouldn't you know it, he spins this tale," Lichtman said.

Isaac is serving a life term at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn prison for a 1997 murder-for-hire in Brooklyn. (ANI)
