Melbourne, Sept 28 (ANI): English actress Keira Knightley has revealed that playing the role of royalty in 'The Duchess', was a pain in the neck - literally.

Knightley's role in the movie, as Georgiana Spencer, saw her spending up to three hours a day just being dressed up for her part, and on top of that she had to wear massive wigs, which made her suffer neck pain.

"The length of time it took to dress depended on the size of the wig and how much of the costume I needed to be sewn into," the Daily Telegraph quoted her as saying."It was quite tiring, but obviously because Georgiana was such a huge fashion icon the costumes were very important.

"At the end of the day I'd have a glass of wine and then I went to bed. Normally I had a bath, too, because my neck was aching so much because of the wigs," she added.

'The Duchess' is a movie based on the life of Georgiana Spencer who married the fifth Duke of Devonshire played by Ralph Fiennes, in a union brokered by her mother Lady Spencer played by Charlotte Rampling. (ANI)
