London, May 26 (ANI): Off-spinner Graeme Swann believes that if England wins some of the Test matches against Sri Lanka and India in the coming weeks, it could achieve the goal of being the first ranked Test playing nation this summer.

In an article for The Sun, Swann said statistics of the past couple of years indicated that England has people intelligent enough to understand the rankings system, and has worked out the permutations that could take the side to the top of ICC rankings.

"We have won six and drawn one of our last seven series so things have worked out perfectly so far. We are currently No 3 in Test cricket and definitely moving in the right direction. We fancy our chances against any opposition in our home conditions," he says.

He said that the England squad is quite refreshed and ready to take on the Sri Lankans in the Test series that commences from today. (ANI)
