Delhi Police team nabbed the notorious gangster Brijesh Singh of Uttar Pradesh in Bhubaneswar when the later was on his way to a shopping mall.
The police revealed on Thursday that Singh was wanted in many cases and they were searching him for more than two decades since 1986 in the cases of murder abduction, extortion and kidnapping.
“We had some information about him and our team had been working on him for three years. We were again tipped off in the second week of this month that he had been shuttling between Kolkata and Bhubaneswar to settle business deals,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (special cell) Alok Kumar.
This notorious criminal from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh is said to be associated with Dawood Ibrahim’s gang and with many high profile politicians and police officer of Uttar Pradesh.
Currently he was staying outskirts of Bhubaneswar in a village and was earning crores of Rupees through his extortion empire. He changed his name as Arun Singh and has been staying in the city since four years.
The 39 year old criminal had a Red Corner Notice against him by Interpol, though several of such occasions came to snitch him but every time he escaped. The closest encounter was in 2001 when he was tracked by UP police in Garhwa in Jharkhand, where he was believed to be admitted in the hospital after he was shot by Mukhtar Ansari’s men. However he duped police and manages to escape mysteriously from the hospital.
Zeroing him near the shopping mall created a high drama when shoppers thought that Singh was being kidnapped by the kidnappers and complained to police.
The six members of Delhi police left the city after the court granted transit remand, the efforts of these policemen are appreciable for this man who was having highest remand on his head of 5 lakh has been a menace for people.
But as claimed by a senior UP police that Singh was shielded by many politicians of UP it presents a grime picture of criminal and politician’s link.
