Malaysian-Indian devotees pay tribute to Sathya Sai Baba

Kuala Lumpur , Mon, 25 Apr 2011 ANI

Kuala Lumpur, Apr 25 (ANI): Over 200 Malaysian-Indian followers of Sathya Sai Baba paid their tributes to him at the Sai Baba centre in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

"We mourn his passing as we would for a close family member. Baba was more than a teacher to us. He was like a parent to his devotees," The Star quoted Sri Sathya Sai Central Council of Malaysia president Dr Suresh Govind, as saying.

Dr Govind also said prayers were conducted at 47 different Sai Baba centres throughout the country on Sunday and would be held over the next few days until Sai Baba's funeral on Wednesday.

The devotees performed bhajan (devotional songs) and shared their experiences about how Sai Baba had affected their lives.

"Through Baba's teachings, I learned to always be positive in whatever task I undertake," one of the devotees said, while another said that he was not really sad after hearing the news because "I know Baba is always here as long as we continue to practise his teachings."

Sri Sathya Sai Baba had breathed his last on Sunday morning after his organs stopped responding to treatment. His body has been kept in the Sai Kulwant Hall in Puttaparthi for two days for people to pay homage to him. (ANI)
