Augusta Masters 2011: McIlroy gives Schwartzel the green jacket

London, Apr.11 (ANI): Rory McIlroy four-shot lead was insufficient to ensure a victory on the final day at Augusta, and the Green Jacket went to Charl Schwartzel.
McIlroy's unravelling was arguably as great as any we have seen, worse than that of Greg Norman here 15 years ago, who blew a six-shot lead to a merciless Nick Faldo.
McIlroy held a one-shot lead when he walked off the ninth. He would be two off the pace when he picked the ball out of the cup after a triple-bogey seven at the 10th. Another shot went at the 11th, two more at the 12th. In a desperate ploy to stem the bleeding, he smashed his drive into Rae's Creek at the 13th. McIlroy was left to stagger pitilessly to the final green, The Telegraph reports.
On the other hand, Schwartzel broke a sequence of 11 consecutive pars to birdie the 15th for a share of the lead. Before he had his pencil out of his pocket to record his achievement Scott sank his birdie at 16 to go 12 under.
Schwartzel needed a par at the last to take the crown. He obliged, rattling a 15-footer down the throat of the hole for a birdie to win by two strokes. (ANI)
