No 'faint prospect' of becoming PM again: Rudd

Canberra , Fri, 08 Apr 2011 ANI

Canberra, Apr 8 (ANI): Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd has said that there is not a 'faint prospect' of him becoming the Prime Minister again.

Rudd has dismissed claims that he is putting efforts to regain his lost position by touring marginal electorates to help shore up support for local Labor MPs, and adding that he is just following a standard practice for government ministers.

"I'm no different from any other minister. Whenever a local member of Parliament asks me to go out and campaign for them, I do. I've been doing that for about 20 years in one form or another. Everyone does that; that's what we're required to do," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted him, as saying.

On being asked whether he had ruled out a comeback attempt, Rudd said: "That is not a faint prospect of a possibility. Let's just get a bit real about all of this."

Rudd is leading a delegation of diplomats in Cairns today as part of an effort to showcase Queensland's recovery from January's flood disaster and cyclone Yasi. (ANI)
