Karachi, Mar 19(ANI): A 15-member Indian peace delegation of intellectuals, writers, parliamentarians, educationists and social activists led by veteran journalist Kuldip Nayyar has met Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah in Karachi.
The meeting was held to make efforts for better and cordial relations between India and Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Nayyar said that it was the responsibility of the civil society to mitigate the hatred between the two countries.
"There is a mistrust in the minds of people of both countries. The situation can not be improved until this mistrust is removed," the Daily Times quoted Nayyar, as saying.
"Indeed people of Pakistan and India have soft corners among their hearts for each others, but some powers, who do not want peace in the subcontinent, create hurdles to keep them away from each other. The integrity and prosperity of India depends on the integrity and prosperity of Pakistan," he added.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister appreciated the spirit of the Indian peace delegation.
Shah said that as far as the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) was concerned, former Prime Ministers Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto had initiated crucial efforts to improve the relations.
He cited the example of the 'Shimla Agreement', and termed it a milestone for improvement of relations between the two countries.
Shah also presented traditional ajrak and shawls to the delegation members. (ANI)
