Maruti domestic car sales zoom 5.3 percent

New Delhi, Oct 1 (IANS) Leading car maker Maruti Suzuki Ltd Wednesday said its sales rose 5.3 percent last month.
The company sold 71,000 vehicles in September 2008, a 5.3 percent increase compared to the total number of cars sold in September 2007, a company statement said.
The bulk of the increase came from the A3 segments, which includes models like SX4 and Dzire.

Sales in this segment rose 51.8 percent this year. Sales in the C segment, which includes models like Omni and Versa, saw a significant growth of above 16 percent.
However, there was a major decline of above 33 percent in the A1 segment (Maruti 800) sales, the statement added.
